CHANITA RODNEY ZU GAST (in englischer Sprache)
Chanita RODNEY was born in Berlin in mid-summer 1929 and named Annelise Charlotte Lowi. In 1936 Chanita took part in the Olympics at Berlin and there was her first realisation that she is Jewish. Since then the "quality of life" worsened steadily for all Jews until November 9 1938, the famous Crystal Nacht. From then on Hans, Lisl's, as Chanita was called by her family, elder brother was ordered never to leave her alone anywhere.
Chanita went with the Kindertransport, on the last boat out of Germany to England, leaving her whole family behind, never to see them again.
1947 Annelise became "Li" in joining a training-for-Israel farm in England. There she met her future husband Bob Rodney. She arrived in Israel in 1949, creating a new family in the new young State of Israel. Later in life she was engaged in founding of “Enosh” – the Israel Mental Health Association. She wrote a book "Life is a Gift", an honest and revealing biography.
